Application Advising
The application process is an opportunity for students to reflect, articulate who they are, and present themselves thoughtfully and authentically. My application advising is designed to support students through that process—helping them think deeply, communicate clearly, and gain confidence in their own voice.
Hourly Application Advising
Application advising is offered on an hourly basis and is tailored to each student’s timeline, experience, and goals. Sessions are collaborative and reflective, supporting students as they develop strong, genuine responses that feel true to who they are.
What Application Advising Includes
Brainstorming and refining ideas for application essays and short-answer responses
Helping students identify themes, stories, and experiences that best represent them
Coaching students on structure, clarity, and organization of responses
Asking guiding questions that help students go deeper and think more critically
Supporting students in revising their own work to strengthen voice, focus, and impact
Helping students manage the application process with confidence and intention
What Application Advising Is Not
To honor the integrity of the admissions process and the student’s authentic voice:
I do not write or edit application responses
I do not rewrite sentences, correct grammar line-by-line, or polish final drafts
I do not alter a student’s voice or content
Instead, students are coached to revise their own work, ensuring that every submission reflects their thinking, effort, and individuality.
A Coaching-Centered Approach
Application advising is rooted in conversation, reflection, and mentorship. The goal is not just a strong application—but a student who understands themselves better, communicates with confidence, and feels ownership over their work.
This approach builds skills that extend beyond admissions, supporting students as writers, thinkers, and self-advocates.
